On September 16^th, the winners of the European Hand Hygiene Excellence Award have been honored and celebrated during the Winner Ceremony. This year, our proud winners are coming from Pula, Croatia and from Villach, Austria.

Both winners

• Are located in tourist areas (In Pula the population increases threefold during touristic season!)
• Fight against AMR carried into the hospitals by tourists
• Promote and train best practice Hand Hygiene for hotel staff and restaurant staff

Pula, Croatia

• The IPC nurse founded the national IPC nursing association

Villach, Austria

• Founded the Austrian IPC congress, which now has international attention and speakers
• Ordered a granite column to show their TROPHY in the main entrance hall
